Welcome to Garden Jungles. This site is for people just like me, non gardeners with gardens that are, how should we say, out of control. During the summer months I will be sharing my experiences of my garden with hints and tips. In fact, I think you will have a bit of a shock with my garden.

To give you an idea I have a quarter of an acre. There are lots of shrubs which have gone out of control and brambles which are a nightmare. Ivy is another problem and tree roots. Roses seem to do quite well, that’s when you can actually see them through the undergrowth.

As a non-gardener I don’t tend to get out there much during the winter months but I do like browsing the net for things which will help when the spring comes. There is something nice about garden features whether you have a small or large garden so I tend to try and get mine from antiques auctions. I will be providing price guides and information on antique garden items as well as new tools. I’m not really a power tool person but I have managed to get some and will provide reviews on them.

To start I’d like to share some pictures of my garden in order to highlight the task ahead.

As you can see from this picture, I really do have a garden jungle. This was how my garden looked before I started chopping back. Since taking this photo I have managed to cut quite a bit back. The tools I used were simply a pair of secateurs, shears, a tree lopper and a hand saw. It might seem impossible but actually, it wasn’t so bad as most of it was brambles and when you cut down brambles a whole load comes away.

One of the advantages of having a wild garden are the little fairy gardens that spring up. This sprung up overnight under a rock.

Well this one likes the wilderness. Plenty of fun for cats and dogs.

Our resident foxes and badgers like it too. Well, it was either put out food for them or have the rubbish bins scattered so we decided feeding them was the best option. Each year we get cubs so when I do manage to get through the wilderness, I will be leaving a space for them as well.

The badger is a real character. A bit like a bull in a china shop. The food is always demolished within half an hour of putting it out. Nothing like having a restaurant for the wildlife.

I hope you like this site and that you get some tips out of it.
